Commodore Brady
How did you come into the position of SC/DSC?
Andrew invited me into the DSC position to work with Jon in July '04, as
Jon was planning on stepping down from the position which he did a month later.
What was something you were hoping to accomplish in accepting the
position, and did you accomplish it?
I wanted to involve the general community more in the process of what we
did. That's why Kim and I created the One-Zero Report which is now the Blue
Report. Help keep people in the loop and interested in what we're doing. I
wanted Sector Command to be active again and open to interaction beyond our
basic responsibilities - with the help of my various DSCs over the years and
the OZD, I really think we have achieved that. I hope!
What would you most like to see happen in the future of OTF?
I think we have been at a crossroads for a while now. We're treading water.
We need a change, some kind of shake-up to give us a vision to work towards.
We need to streamline the way we do things and prioritise. We need to get
rid of what is not working and focus on what is. The alternative is just
maintaining what we've got I guess, which is fine. It seems to be the
consensus among people. And I can understand that way of thinking too. But
we're not growing our challenging ourselves at this point, something that I
personally would like to see change in the future.
Has being "brass" changed your opinions regarding the site from your
younger OTF years? For better or for worse?
Haha, brass. I've never really felt like brass. I guess I've been involved
in pretty much every aspect of the site from top to bottom, left to right.
So in that respect my perspective has changed I guess. I'm still here
though, so that's a good sign.
If you had one super power, what would it be and how would you use it in OTF?
It would be the power of inspiration. The power to compel people to do
great things and to reach for heights they previously felt beyond their
grasp. I'd use that at OTF by encouraging those people in positions of
leadership to contribute and help us grow or move aside and let someone else
have a go.
Why do you do what you do? ie, what drives you in your OTF career?
My interest in OTF has been multi-faceted. I love meeting new people,
hearing new ideas, learning new things. I've taught myself HTML, how to use
programs that I never would've been exposed to otherwise, I've learned
organisational skills.. OTF has challenged me. At this stage, I also find
it academically interesting. It's been the spark point of many essays and
even now postgraduate research.
What's one thing the general OTF populace doesn't know about you and would
never suspect in a million years?
I AM POLSON!
Do or did you enjoy your work as SC/DSC? What's the best/worst things about the position?
I do enjoy it. Like anything it has its ups and downs, but I still feel
like I'm in a position to do some good. The best thing is and always has
been the people. The stuff people come out with, the fun, the 3AM MSN
conversations, teaching someone how to make 'the red hovery thing'. The
worst part is the politics. The 'cloak and dagger' times, the power games. The politics suck.
If you could ask one thing from chatters, what would you ask?
Keep chatting! =)
Which OTF member inspired you to greatness and why?
I have three! Camila (Jadz), Jayne and Sus (TK). They were all very
inspiring people when I was 'coming up through the ranks' who took me under
their respective wings and taught me how to play the game that is Outpost 10F.
What is your dream rank and avatar?
Ensign - James Dean.
If you could smooch CT without incurring the wrath of JJ, would you?
Who says I haven't already? =)
If you could have any position on the site regardless of your abilities or
skills, which one would it be?
Assistant to the Deputy Janitor. You get the keys to everywhere, you know.
EVERYWHERE. Including the Admiral's mini-bar, if you know what I mean.
Do YOU know what a goober is?
Amanda's hairstyle? =)
What do you like most about OTF?
The people.
What do you like most about Polson?
The fact that she is a person. No wait, her comics. No no, scratch that.
Her past 'indiscretions'. *wink*
